My friend Rich has done a lot of impressive things, like This American Life, the best Celine Dion video on the internet, and the time he came up with the lyrics, “I get horny in your presence, I wanna give you presents,” but these accomplishments are eclipsed by the fact that he judged a child beauty pageant and will be featured on next week’s episode of Toddlers & Tiaras (which he wrote about here). When we first became obsessed with Swan Brooner 10 years ago, I couldn’t have dreamed that we’d ever see this day. I mean, my mom called me last night because she was so excited to see Rich on the promo for his episode. I know that this isn’t even happening to me, but this is like one of the most exciting moments of my life. I’m living vicariously through him, just like a pageant mother. That’s my best friend on that reality show. “Smile, baby, people are lookin’ at you.”

I’ll have to figure out where TLC is on my dial for this! Proud of you, RichFoFo!

On Saturday night, Swedish pop star Robyn gave a characteristically amazing performance as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. For her performance of “Call Your Girlfriend,” she used basically the same choreography as in her video directed by Max Vitali, but the sheer awesomeness of her moves in a live setting made me watch the video over and over again. And because of this, I realized. This song is about an imaginary conversation Robyn’s having with herself.

The whole cast is supporting cast, which is the only reason anyone is interested in seeing this movie. There’s so many people in it! And they’re all famous. Except that one guy on the poster who no one can identify. (He’s Til Schweiger from SLC Punk). Though a few people (Alyssa Milano, say) are probably pretty pissed that two glasses of champagne on the poster got better billing than them.

here’s a word of warning for anyone having a bout of cold feet in the process of planning a wedding: If your subconscious thinks your fiance is going to kill all of your friends and family, you probably shouldn’t marry him! In fact, you should walk away slowly, make up some story about being embarrassed to tell your dad that you’re going to be a vampire in a month and hope that he doesn’t bleed you out for pissing him off.
